Living Map of Al-Andalus

Day 1

Barcelona Arrival

Airport meet-and-greet by the Muslim tour team. Private transfer in a latest-model premium air-conditioned van/minibus to the hotel. After check-in and rest, enjoy an easy orientation walk through Plaza de Catalunya, La Rambla, the Gothic Quarter and Port Vell. Welcome dinner at a pre-approved 100% halal restaurant.

Day 2

Barcelona Highlights and Muslim Life

Full-day guided exploration of Barcelona: Sagrada Familia, Passeig de Gracia, Casa Batllo and La Pedrera exterior views, Park Guell and the Gothic Quarter. The Muslim guide explains the wider history of medieval Catalonia and Muslim-Christian exchange in the western Mediterranean. Halal lunch and dinner are included, with a scheduled prayer stop at an appropriate mosque or Islamic centre.

Day 3

Barcelona to Zaragoza

Travel west in a comfortable latest-model air-conditioned van/minibus. Visit the Aljaferia Palace, one of Spain's most important surviving Islamic palaces outside Andalusia, followed by a walking tour of Zaragoza's historic centre, the Ebro riverfront and the old city. Halal meals and prayer break included. Overnight in Zaragoza.

Day 4

Zaragoza to Valencia

Drive to Valencia, historically Balansiya. Explore the old quarter, surviving sections of the Islamic wall, Portal de Valldigna, the Cathedral quarter, Lonja area and Central Market surroundings. The guide introduces Valencia's Muslim agricultural, architectural and intellectual legacy. Halal dinner and overnight in Valencia.

Day 5

Valencia - Heritage and Modern City

Visit the City of Arts and Sciences, walk through the Turia Gardens and continue to the historic centre. Optional Oceanografic entry may be added. Enjoy a pre-arranged halal Valencian-style lunch. Prayer stop at a suitable mosque/Islamic centre, followed by free time for shopping or the waterfront.

Day 6

Valencia to Murcia

Travel to Murcia and visit the Museum of Santa Clara, built over a former Islamic palatial complex. Continue through the medieval centre and the Monteagudo area for interpretation of Murcia under Ibn Mardanis and later Islamic rule. All included meals are halal. Overnight in Murcia.

Day 7

Murcia to Granada

Journey through southeast Spain to Granada. After check-in, explore the Albaicin, Carrera del Darro, Alcaiceria and Mirador de San Nicolas. Visit the surroundings of the Great Mosque of Granada and coordinate prayer there when compatible with local access and timings. Halal dinner in Granada.

Day 8

The Alhambra and Nasrid Granada

A full day devoted to the Alhambra complex, Nasrid Palaces and Generalife with a specialist guide. The tour focuses on architecture, Quranic inscriptions, water engineering, court culture and the final centuries of Muslim rule in Iberia. Afternoon at leisure for a halal-friendly hammam experience or independent shopping. Halal lunch and dinner included.

Day 9

Granada to Seville

Depart for Seville, historic Ishbiliya. Visit the Royal Alcazar, Santa Cruz quarter, former Almohad minaret now known as the Giralda, the Cathedral precinct and the Guadalquivir riverfront. The Muslim guide gives the Islamic context without turning religious heritage sites into prayer venues. Prayer is arranged separately at an appropriate mosque or prayer space. Halal meals included.

Day 10

Seville to Cordoba

Morning panoramic visit to Plaza de Espana, Maria Luisa Park and Torre del Oro before continuing to Cordoba. In Qurtuba, explore the Mosque-Cathedral as a historical monument, the Patio de los Naranjos, Roman Bridge, Puerta del Puente and Calahorra Tower area. Prayer is organised at a current mosque/prayer space, not inside the monument. 100% halal lunch and dinner.

Day 11
