Al-Andalus should feel like more than a place you came to visit.
Al-Qurtubi Tours was founded by two Andalusi Muslim brothers from southern Spain, shaped by the landscapes, cities and histories that once formed the heart of Al-Andalus. For us, this heritage is not something encountered only in books or behind the walls of a monument. It is present in the names of our towns, in the architecture of our cities, in the language, food, gardens and memory of the land we call home.
We created Al-Qurtubi Tours for Muslim families and groups who want to experience Spain with greater depth — not simply to see what remains of Al-Andalus, but to understand the civilisation, people and ideas behind it. From Córdoba and Granada to Seville, Toledo and the smaller towns in between, we connect monuments with the wider stories of scholarship, faith, architecture, trade, migration and everyday life that shaped Muslim Iberia and the Mediterranean beyond it. And because a meaningful journey also depends on how it feels from day to day, we take care of the practical details with the same attention: halal dining, prayer-conscious planning, private transport, suitable accommodation and a pace that allows families to experience the journey together.
A Muslim team from Spain, welcoming you into the places we call home.
We are a Muslim travel team rooted in Spain, with first-hand knowledge of the country, its culture and the heritage of Al-Andalus. We speak Spanish and English and work with Muslim guides, historians, licensed local guides and trusted specialists across the destinations we visit.
This combination matters. It means we can move naturally between the Spain of today and the history beneath it — understanding local customs and practical realities while also recognising the questions Muslim travellers often bring with them.
Al-Andalus is not a distant chapter of history to us. It is part of the landscape we grew up around and part of a heritage we continue to explore ourselves. Our role is to help you encounter it with clarity, context and a sense of connection.
History with context. Travel with space to experience it.
We believe a good guide should do more than recite dates. The most meaningful journeys help you understand how a place fits into a larger story: why Córdoba became one of the great centres of learning in medieval Europe, how Granada developed under the Nasrids, how Seville was connected to North Africa, or how Muslim, Jewish and Christian communities shaped the peninsula across different centuries.
We approach these stories through a Muslim lens while remaining attentive to the complexity of the history itself. That means discussing achievement as well as change, coexistence as well as conflict, and placing Al-Andalus within the broader history of Spain, Europe, North Africa and the Islamic world.
Just as importantly, we understand that Muslim travellers experience a destination differently when their daily needs have already been considered. There should be time to pray without rushing. Meals should not require a daily search for halal options. Families should have space to rest. Older guests and children should not feel that they are being hurried from one monument to the next.
Every journey therefore begins with a conversation about the people travelling. We ask about ages, interests, mobility, preferred pace, languages, food requirements, accommodation preferences and the places or themes that matter most to you. From there, we build the route around your group rather than asking your group to fit a standard itinerary.
Hospitality is an amanah.
We see the care of our guests as a trust. For us, that means being honest about what is worth your time, communicating clearly before you arrive and remaining attentive to the details once your journey begins.
Halal arrangements are considered in advance. Prayer is part of the rhythm of the day rather than an afterthought. Hotels, vehicles, guides and visiting times are chosen with the needs of the group in mind.
We also believe good hospitality is often quiet. It is a driver arriving when expected. A restaurant already knowing the group's requirements. Enough time between visits. A guide who understands when to explain and when to allow a place to speak for itself. A route that feels considered rather than crowded. These details rarely appear in photographs, but they shape how a journey is remembered.
We want you to leave with more than a list of places you have seen.
As two Muslim brothers who call southern Spain home, sharing Al-Andalus is deeply personal to us. Our aim is not to romanticise the past or reduce it to a collection of beautiful monuments. It is to help our guests encounter its history with curiosity, respect and perspective — and to understand how its legacy continues to form part of Spain today.
We hope you return home with more than photographs. With a clearer understanding of Muslim history in Europe. With stories your children will remember. With a deeper appreciation for Spain and its many layers. And, perhaps, with the feeling that for a few days you did not simply travel through Al-Andalus. You were welcomed into its story.
